I also have been looking for "The Quiet Earth" (author: Craig
Harrison) for several months, after seeing the film on cable.
No luck so far. Have not even been able to find the film, so
if anyone can point me to either book or video, I too would
	appreciate it.

I recently bought a copy of THE QUIET EARTH on videotape (a place
in Nashua was selling off a batch of their Beta rentals), but
haven't had a chance to watch it, though I skimmed through it
(to look for bad spots, so I could return it if need be). Looks
    fascinating.

As for the book it's based on... given that the film was made in
New Zealand, the book was likely published there or in Australia,
which will make it *very* difficult, if not virtually impossible,
to find it in the US. I can say with reasonable confidence that
it was never published in the US.

This has been reviewed as a film, including by me, in BOMBE::MOVIES,
the Movies conference, note 291. If you don't already have it in
your notebook, KP7 or "SEL" will put it there.

I have the book in paperback form. Had to go to Sydney to find it. Send
mail if you'd like to borrow it.
