1271.0. "Tie me Kangaroo down" by COMICS::BARLOWD () Wed May 10 1995 15:41

On the subject of destroying good comic scripts I heard a funny one this weekend.
Some one is apparently doing the film of the cult comic 'heroine' Tank Girl.

If you have read Tank Girl you will know her as the cute little girl in Australia
who drinks lager like a duck, has a Kangaroo boyfriend and delights in shooting
things for the sake of it.

Apparently the producers talked to the artist and writer and asked them all the
normal stupid questions, like,

Q: What is Tank Girls name ?
A: Tank Girl!

Q: What does she do?
A: Gets drunk, copulates with a Kangaroo then shoots things

Not good enough, we'll have to give her a name, Rebecca sounds nice.
Tank Girl needs a background, a life story. she is a tank commander whose
boyfriend gets kidnapped by arab fundamentalists and she leads a rescue attempt
with her friends.
Q: What are her friends names?
A: Boat Girl, Plane Girl and Submarine Girl.

Too simple...

You get the story I hope. Probably no one has ever hear of this but it is vaquely
Science Fiction

    The trailers looked like fun, but this movie disappeared almost
    immediately after its release -- I don't even know if it got reviewed.

re: .1

I was "forced" to see it here in Nashua when it was first out.

When we bought our tickets, the booth person had to call the projectionist
to let them know somebody showed up for the movie :-).

There were two groups of people at this showing:

The group I was in was comprised of 3 people. Of the three, only 1 liked it
and he is the one that "forced" the rest to go.

The other group had 4; two of them left about 1/3 into the movie.

The music was excessively loud (probably because of the 'empty' theatre);
the plot wasn't; the acting was about what you would expect; there were a
few funny lines.

I am surprised it stayed around as long as it did (off the cutting room floor,
that is :-).

    I liked it better than Alien III.
