1297.0. "Science Fiction Writers Whereabouts?" by SWAM1::MASTROMAR_JO () Mon Jun 10 1996 14:48

    Hi,

       I was wondering if anyone out there knew the home/mailing address
       of phone/fax number to Larry Niven and/or Jerry Pournelle.

       Even just the city would be helpful.

       They are science fiction writers who co-wrote the book "Inferno".
       They also co-wrote "The Mote in God's Eye", and Larry Niven wrote
       the Ringworld series.

       I'm looking to contact them directly, not an agent.

       Can anyone help me?

    Thanks,

    john...

...Jerry welcomes readers' comments and opinions. Send a self-addressed,
stamped envelope to Jerry Pournelle, c/o BYTE, One Pheonix Mill Lane,
Peterborough, NH 03458. Please put your address on the letter as well as
on the enevlope. ... You can also contact him onthe Internet or BIX at

1297.2Other Books to getBRAT::MONBLEAUMon Jun 10 1996 17:2411
    If you enjoy these two together, you missed a couple of excellent
    books they have written. (I automatically buy anything they collaborate
    on.) "Legacy of Herot" is a rapid page turner; "Footfall" is a clever
    view of individualism as seen from a herd mentality - wrapped in a
    great story. Don't forget "Lucifer's Hammer", the first, and very best
    of the comet genre. And if you liked "The Mote in God's Eye", then you
    need to get the recently released sequel, "The Gripping Hand".

    They have written other books but these mentioned here plus "Mote" are
    their very best, IMHO.

    Actually, I tend to avoid the collaborations now. I like Larry Niven
    writing on his own, and the collaborations are fine if Stephen Barnes
    is involved (see "dream park") but if Jerry Pournelle is the co-writer,
    the books tend to be very heavy and concentrate on the interaction of
    the characters too much leaving the plot pace a little slow. I believe
    "legacy of herot" involved stephen Barnes too (I may be mistaken,
    there's a first time for everything) and I loved it. Couldn't put it
    down. I thought "footfall" was a little slow paced and over-long but
    still a good read and "the mote in god's eye" was readable at best.

    IMO of course.

    I thought it was. I wasn't sure if all three or just two of them as I
    read it such a long time ago.
