Series Notes

In the U.S. the series is first airing on the Showtime cable channel. This

the episodes has been 44 minutes 20 seconds. In the U.K. it airs on BBC 2.
The series was planned from the start to run in syndication and alternate
versions of some scenes were filmed to replace the ones shown on cable.

Opening Narration

"There is nothing wrong with your television. Do not attempt to adjust
the picture. We are now controlling the transmission. We control the
horizontal, and the vertical. We can deluge you with a thousand channels,
or expand one single image to crystal clarity and beyond. We can shape
your vision to anything our imagination can conceive. For the next hour,
we will control all that you see and hear."

"You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the
deepest inner mind to the Outer Limits."

After a robot kills its creator, do you put it in the scrapheap -
or put it on trial? Dr. Charles Link has been murdered, and the
prime suspect is a "synthetic human" called Adam. Because he "has
been [like] a brother" to the scientist's daughter, she contacts
lawyer Thurman Cutler to save him from being disassembled. Cutler's
strategy hinges on proving Adam's humanity and earning him a trial.
During the investigation, evidence comes to light that could ruin
Cutler's career - and show Adam's humanity beyond a doubt.
