1099.0. "Asprin sequel just a MYTH?" by MPGS::CHRISTENSEN () Tue Aug 25 1992 16:40

I'm embarrassed to admit that I just recently discovered the MYTH
series by Robert Lynn Asprin. I have found this whole series to be
VERY entertaining, thoroughly enjoyable light fantasy reading. A
couple of months ago, I finished the last myth book I could find
and at the end of the book was described the NEXT book, "coming soon"
    as
                 SWEET MYTH-TERY of LIFE

In this book, Skeeve supposedly falls in love. Interesting twist.
Wish I could read it. But I can't find it ANYWHERE. I've asked at
a couple of book stores and noone besides me has heard of it at all.

Meanwhile, Robert Aspirin has come out with at least two books of a new
series...PHULE'S COMPANY AND PHULE'S PARADISE, and at least one other
book written since the last MYTH book (one that I know of).

My question by now should be obvious...

Does anyone have any information about SWEET MYTH-TERY OF LIFE?

Is Robert Asprin taking a break from the MYTH series or has he
    abandoned it completely?

By the way, I have searched this entire conference using "ASPRIN". I
have found a couple of EARLIER notes that mention the MYTH series, but
    nothing recent.

Any information would be greatly appreciated....

    Thanks, -Dave

Aspirin is notoriously slow with the creation of his sequels. All I
can suggest is to wait, or to contact the author via Donning and ask
    him yourself.

I'm not sure who has published the last few Myth books, but
    Donning/Starblaze is out of business.

I heard this from Mel White, an author/artist who collaborated with
Aspirin on a series called "Duncan and Mallory" (illustrated
    comic-style book).

She said Donning/Starblaze was gone for good, not sure of the details.

So if Aspirin has to find a different publisher, it may be awhile.

I wouldn't think Asprin will have any trouble finding a publisher. Ace
did the mass market reprints of the Myth books, and is currently publishing
the Phule books. They're also reprinting his early novels like THE COLD
CASH WAR. I'm sure Ace would love to have a new Myth book if Asprin would
write it. He only needs to do so.
