1016.0. "THE ARTIFICIAL MAN" by XCUSME::KENDRICK () Fri Aug 30 1991 14:02

    I posted this in the BOOKS conference and it was suggested I cross-post
    this here.

    Back around 69-71 when I was in Junior High, I read a book titled "The
    Artificial Man". From what I can remember it was about an android or
    at least a human who was mostly "artificial" who did not realize he was
    not human. I don't know who the author is. I got the book through a
    book service offered at school. We used to get a catalog every week or
    two and you could buy whatever books you wanted.

    Anyway, I would like to get a copy but have been unable to locate it
    anywhere. Does this book ring a bell with anyone? This is the book
    that whetted my appetite for science fiction so I'd really like to add
    it to my collection.

    Any info is welcome.

    Thanks,

    Terry

1016.2There Was a Novel The Artificial ManBALZAC::DONOVANThu Sep 05 1991 13:0912

    And as I mentioned in the other notes file, there is another book
    called The Artificial Man that is not by Theodore Sturgeon. Not
    to confuse the issue, but was there a book by Theodore Sturgeon
    about a group of kids who commit a murder and a character named
    Lone and a woman who was brought up in a Victorian style
    environment in modern times? Maybe that was The Synthetic Man.
    ;-).

    Cheers,

    Indeed. It's a superb book, rightly considered a classic.

    I believe L.P. Davies wrote a novel called "The Artifical Man", but it
    was about a very different theme.
