629.0. "BARBARELLA" by MTWAIN::KLAES (Know Future) Thu Jun 02 1988 21:08

    	For those in the Boston area, Channel 38 (WSBK-TV, Ind.) will
    be showing BARBARELLA (1967) Saturday night, June 4, at 8 p.m.,
    the classic SF film starring Jane Fonda as a nympho space policewoman
    in search of a future rock group (Duran Duran - bad joke).

    	This Topic may also be used to discuss the film and the comic
    strip BARBARELLA originated from in general.

    I finally rented this one. Strange! But it has some elements
    I enjoyed watching (one of which is Jane Fonda . . . :-)

    Was it Duran Duran, or Joran Jorand?

    And Steely Dan (the band) gets its name from a -- marital aid --
    described in William Burrough's "The Naked Lunch."

    re .3

    Barbarella was also the most popular comic in France for most of the
    60's.
