Channel 11 has also announced that they have contracted to broadcast the
current year's Dr Who's (the 2nd with Peter Davison). Unfortunately, they
won't began showing them until next September!
There have also been requests for older pre-Tom Baker Doctors, but no action
has been taken (maybe if we all send them enough money with our requests...).
I really like the way Channel 11 shows the Doctor...All episodes of a set
packaged into one show. I only wish they would re-broadcast them again some
other time during the week for those times I miss the Saturday afternoon show.

I picked up rumblings in the latest SFL that there have been changes made
in the Dr Who casting. Someone said that Peter Davison was out (after
second season?), a new man brought in (Colin Baker?) and he replaced in
short order. Rumor was that Jon Pertwee (Dr #3) was coming back!
Anybody out there (especially people in England) have the straight news??

Peter Davison (Doctor #5) is indeed done, apparently the shortest run
Doctor yet (74 shows by end of contract in March 1984). The sixth
Doctor will be Colin Baker, who will begin in March 1984. So is
reported in the Whovian Times, generally an accurate source for such
information.

Channel 44 in Boston is going to show "The Five Doctors" this Friday
(9-March) at 7:30.
Ed Featherston has reported in the USENET net.tv.drwho newsgroup that
Channel 2 in Boston is going to begin showing the Peter Davison episodes
this spring (after the current sequence of Baker episodes?).

Channel 11 (WENH) in New Hampshire showed two episodes of Doctor Who on
Saturday as part of their fund-raising activities. The first episode was
the one in which Colin Baker (Doctor #6) plays a supporting role as a
guard on Gallifrey. It was interesting to see what he looks like.
They also announced that they will be showing the 3rd year of Peter
Davison and the first year of Colin Baker starting in the fall. Therefore,
I'd expect to see the regeneration sometime late this year.

in this file ( 19.10 ) the final episode with Peter Davison is very good.

An interesting point brought up on Channel 11 on Saturday...
The photo of the five Doctors that appeared in TV Guide a couple weeks
ago is not what it seems. "Tom Baker" is a wax dummy! They couldn't get
TB to pose for the publicity shots (just as he didn't appear in the
20th anniversary special) so they trotted out his image from a wax museum!
Look closely...It's true!

| Just in case any of you are exiled to the southland... If you are in an
area that can pick up ETV 33 (N. Carolina station that reaches western NC and
northwestern SC), you can find the Doctor at 11:00 weeknights for one half
hour segment each nigth with John Pertwe as the Doctor and on Sat at 2:00 for
a whole story with Tom Baker as the Doctor. (Also Sun at 7:00 but I haven't
caught it yet so I don't know what they show or who plays the Doctor.)

Channel 11 is looking into getting pre-Tom Baker episodes. Apparently, they
are getting expensive...The distributor *knows* he has a good thing!

While not quite a parallel universe, I read in a recent Dr Who magasine
that there is a story in the next Davidson series (not due to be shown in
New England till september 84) where there are two planets at opposite
points in the same universe.
What makes this story sound interesting is that two Doctors arrive (one on
each planet) at about the same time. One is Davidson of course and the
other is William Hartnell, using some recently discovered footage that
never made it into a story (title 'The Hidden Planet' by Malcolm Hulke).
Carole Ann Ford (Susan, the Doctor's granddaughter) appears in the old
footage and the new, although playing different characters, I think.
The story originally had one of the planets as Earth, but that has been
changed since it conflicted with Earth's twin being Mondas in the first
cyberman story.
Any UK readers care to tell us what series/story they are up to. I have
heard that Australia is currently getting the series that includes that
regeneration of the Doctor into Colin Baker.

only. It's been going on for a while now. But then some channel

Channel 2 (WGBH) will begin showing the Peter Davison episodes after the

Last night they were in episode #2 of "Keeper of Traken". Following
"Keeper of Traken" is the "Logopolis" episodes, where the Doctor
regenerates into Peter Davison. I think both series were 4 episodes
apiece, so the new shows should start the first week in July.
Has anyone heard how many of the Davison episodes Channel 2 has? Do
they have all of them or just the first season?

1. Intro. My name is Stan Gifford - TSG Sydney Australia.
Now to the meat.
Having recently discovered 'notes', I found this note.
We in OZ are fairly lucky in that we are currently seeing Doc #6
But ... We were supposed to be seeing it two months ago. The ABC
decided the last series with Peter D regenerating was to violent,
so we had to wait Till it was re-cut in England - It was the *worst*
cutting I have seen - Five mins of action removed, lack of continuity
ETC. - Comes of showing an adult prog during kiddie time.
Re very early episodes - Doc #1 - rumor has it that there are no copies
in existance - a fire or something destroyed the masters - can someone
comment.

A great many of the episodes of Doctor #1 (Hartnell) and Doctor #2 (Troughton)
were lost in a fire that destroyed the film archives of the BBC many years
back. I don't have any other details. The producers are constantly on the
lookout for copies of the episodes that may have been saved at other locations
(they recently searched the ABC (the "Australian", not "American") archives
but came up empty-handed).
I read in the DWFCA newsletter that Richard Hurndall (Doctor #1 in "The Five
Doctors") passed away earlier this year (April?). Any confirmation of this?

Very Egocentric - However I am watching Episode 3 of 'The Twin Delimma"%(*%
and he is getting over his re-generation
Quite amusing however
Apart from being Egocentric a bit of a coward
Still it's early days yet.
Attention - There is a crying need for a DR WHO notes file - My machine
does not really have the capacity - how about it someone - But if it gets
set up - please could someone let me know out here in the land that owns
the America's Cup.
