2211.0. "printtool core dumps" by CSC32::PITT () Sat Feb 15 1997 02:01

    4.0b netview.

    /usr/OV/bin/printtool

    Segmentation fault: core dumped.

    Clicking on printtool from the tool menu also core dumps.
    #file core shows core created by printtool.

    I can't reproduce this on 4.1c.

    Has anyone else seen this problem? Should I escalate? Tell the customer
    to wait a few weeks and "upgrade" to the Tivoli product?

    thanks

No such thing as 4.0b NetView.

If you mean the problem was with V4.1b and it seems to work in V4.1c,
then yes I would suggest telling the customer that the problem is fixed
in an update and suggest that they install the Tivoli branded V4.1c
as soon as it is available.

    I'm not saying it is fixed in 4.1c. I just can't reproduce it on
    my netview station which is running 4.1c.
    Yes, typo he is at 4.1b.

    Has anyone else reported any similar problems with printtool?

    thanks.

    fwiw, we cannot reproduce this under 4.1b either....must be something
    specific to this customers setup.....

    Cathy,

    Good news....I reproduced it here on a 4.1c system. It was very
    easy!

2211.5DISPLAY environment variable not setMOLAR::SIEGELMS: ZKO1-3/H18 DTN: 381-0035Tue Feb 18 1997 17:1310

    This problem is also very easy to fix. The customer must not have
    defined the DISPLAY environment variable. This same problem happens if
    you use the mailtool.

    BUT...printtool or mailtool should NOT core. That problem will be
    fixed.
