9.62New kit on the wayTUXEDO::MINTZErik MintzWed Feb 12 1997 15:0123
At this point I would no longer recommend deploying PNV V4.1c

As you can see from the announcement in note 13.6 we will shortly be
releasing the Tivoli branded version of NetView for Digital UNIX.
It is likely better to ask a customer to delay upgrading for a few weeks
rather than suggesting that they upgrade from, say, V4.1b to V4.1c and then
a few weeks later ask them to install yet another kit.
This is especially true for any customers who may be requiring support
in the near future, since future ECOs will be based on the TME 10 NetView
kit rather than the POLYCENTER kit.

We are continuing to investigate a small number of problems which appear
to be present in certain environments where PNV V4.1b or V4.1c are installed.
However any corrective action for those cases will also be based on the
TME 10 NetView kit.

The TME 10 NetView kit for Digital UNIX will be available for internal
use shortly. Watch this space for new procedures for acquiring that kit.
If you have an urgent need for PNV V4.1c in the meanwhile please contact
me by Email.

SUBJECT: NetView "Internal Use Only" kits, pointers, problem
reporting procedures, and engineering support contacts.

KITS: "Internal Use Only" kits are available by sending a request to
Marijane Beaudet (TUXEDO::BEAUDET or beaudet@mail.dec.com). In the
request include a brief statement about what the kit will be used
for, acknowledge that you agree to the "Internal Use License
Agreement", and an e-mail address to which to send the password of
   the FTP account.

Kits are located on a FTP server. The server is a VMS system with
   an address of took.eng21.lkg.dec.com (16.21.144.135).

   The following files are available:

"dunixnv.tar" is a TAR file of the "TME 10 NetView V4.1C for
DIGITAL UNIX" product. This file contains
260,618,372 bytes. Requires Digital UNIX V3.2 or
later. Digital UNIX versions later than V4.0A are
                   not officially supported by Tivoli.
"readme.txt" is a version of this file which covers NetView for
NT and DUNIX. This file contains ??? bytes.

GETTING GENERAL QUESTIONS ANSWERED:

A notes file is available at NOTED::NETVIEW-NT for NT related
questions and at NOTED::NETVIEW for D-UNIX related questions
If you have problems with the notes file contact the moderator Erik
Mintz by e-mail at TUXEDO::MINTZ (erik.mintz@lkg.mts.dec.com) or by
   phone at DTN 226-6704 (+1 508.486.6704).

REPORTING PROBLEMS:

You may report problems by entering them into the Problem Tracking
and Reporting (PTR) system via the World Wide Web, or by sending
   e-mail to pnvnt@tuxedo.lkg.dec.com.

The world wide web interface is accessed by opening the following
   URL:

      http://engptr.zko.dec.com:8030/~ptr_docs/ptr_login.html

Username is: PNVNT_INT For POLYCENTER NetView on NT

Password is: slic8OfpizzA The PTR Password is case sensitive!

This is "sliceofpizza" with 3 exceptions
                   --------------------------------------
                   e = 8, o = upper case letter O, a = A

Once logged in, you will see that your default context is set to
PNV-NT databases. You can move to a different product database by
doing "Select Product". Please do your best to enter problems in
the appropriate database, but don't overly agonize about this, we
can and do move cases between databases after analysis.

It is recommended that you take a few minutes to familiarize
yourself with this problem reporting system.

If you have problems utilizing the Internet interface, send e-mail
to the above account or call or fax the information to Bob Baker
   at:

        phone: (508) 486-6702 DTN: 226-6702
        fax: (508) 486-6755 DTN: 226-6755

   Hints for Getting Started

When you press "enter" or any button which enters data into the
database, please wait for CONFIRMATION that your TRANSACTION
completed successfully. Otherwise you will not be certain that the
data was entered successfully and you may have to repeat the entry.
