Many thanks for the quick and comprehensive response. Are CA supposed
to also be (re)selling Polycenter Manager on NetView for Wiindows NT,
if yes, why do they only appear to have a copy of the FT kit and not a
    proper release kit ?

On a more specific issue, whilst attempting to purchase this product we
originally asked to order against product code QB-4MTAA-SA?

However, we later got asked to order QB-3LFAA-SA but nobody could
explain what the difference was nor why we had to use this new number.

Can you help explain where to find the proper order number :-)

    Regards

    John

POLYCENTER Manager on NetView for NT is orderable from Digital. The
part number for this has always been:

    QB-3LFAA-SA $6995

    for the License/CD package.

507.4CA does not/will not offer NetViewTUXEDO::MINTZErik MintzTue Jan 28 1997 12:4717
NetView is owned by Tivoli, an IBM Company. They package it as TME/10 NetView,
which is part of their TME/10 System and Network management suite.
We will be switching to use the TME/10 brand as well; look for
a sales update article very shortly. Same product, just a branding change.

CA produces a System and Network management product called Unicenter.
It is direct competition for TME/10. The two companies (Tivoli and CA)
do not get along well.

CA has never and will never be shipping a base NetView product.
Not on NT nor on any other operating system.
The only explanation I can imagine for the response you received is that
they thought you were asking about the POLYCENTER DECnet Manager, which
they do have in FT. But if you can let Colleen (zeke::) Goleman know
who you talked to at CA she can help clarify the message.

This appears to be a POLYCENTER Assetworks product part number.
Assetworks did go to CA. If you are looking for NetView on NT then
the original number you used was incorrect.
