259.0. "SW 3.0 BL19 : messages redirection ??" by EVTAI1::VISTA (Renato VISTA/MCS/NS France/ZTO) Thu Apr 03 1997 08:22

    Hi,

Testing ServerWORKS T3.0 BL19, I would like to get more information
    about traps redirection capabilities.

Until now, I've managed to redirect to a NetView platform, the
    following types of messages :

. native SW messages, ie	UP	using pnvlnkup.trp file
    					DOWN	using pnvlnkdn.trp file
    					NO.RESP using pnvlnknr.trp file

(option available via the POLLER/Top Level Manager)

. asynchonous external SNMP traps from any potential sender
(eg a network component, ie a HUB), by modifying the
    		SW trapfwd.ini file

For those messages, the NetView receipts are OK.

But, after setting SW advanced "rules" via the Alarm Configuration
option, especially about the "System Status", "Component Status",
"Component Threshold" alarm types, the local WNT/SW platform does
receive the expected messages, BUT no SNMP/TRAP are sent to the remote
    NetView platform.

Is this an expected behavior ?

If NO, is there any mean to describe the redirection parameters ?

IF YES, may I expect the final SW V3.0 release be able to convert as
SNMP/TRAPS messages ANY local SW monitoring messages ??

    Thank you for your replies.
    Renato
