495.0. "Messages through LAT port?" by HSTSSC::ROUHU () Thu Jun 11 1987 13:05

    Suppose i have logged into VAX A and VAX B through a Decserver-100.
    In VAX A there is a process XYZ that wants to send a message to
    my terminal.

    What do you think is the smartest way to guarantee that the message
    gets delivered immediately and independent of my current session
    (whether on VAX A or VAX B) ?

    Is there ANY way to force the message to go through the "non-current"
    Decserver-session to my terminal or do i have to create some kind of a slave
    process into VAX B too? (I can modify process XYZ if necessary).

    		ilpo.

You could hack a dcl command procedure to use TSM to BROADCAST to the terminal
itself independant of the VAX. In this case, you have to know what server
and port you are on- information available in a special 4.6 undocumented
QIO.
