    yeah, we _all_ know that space craft don't go "whooosh!" through space!

    Was anyone else bothered by Riker and LaForge being in the first FTL
    ship with Zefram?  If they're trying to remain in the background 
    and not change history, surely you don't go ON the historic first
    flight.
    They surely would have other co-pilots planned to go along.
    
    Also, the missile taking off in the middle of the forest would have
    burned down all the trees in a half-mile radius, not to mention
    the people standing around the bar just a few feet away.
    
    And the Borg changed the Enterprise MUCH too quickly.  Just changing
    the environmental controls and a FEW gizmos should have been possible.
    Or are we saying they just used replicators to create all this stuff
    quickly.
    
    Other than that, I enjoyed the movie a lot, but these things keep from
    being a 9 or 10.
    

    
    While I too thought there were holes in the story, I believe the
    writers excused Riker and LaForge being in the Pheonix by having most
    of Zephran's coworkers killed in the Borg attack. Riker and LaForge
    were the only qualified copilots left at the time. The log books might
    have even retained the names of the original crew for history's sake if
    Zephran went along it, who else would know?
