2028.0. "little colt lost" by MTWASH::DOUGLAS () Mon Apr 22 1996 17:15

    I want to share this with all of you. It's the only place that
    I feel like people can understand my mourning. I guess I need
    some support right now.

    My mare aborted her foal this weekend and I can honestly say
    this was one of the most heart wrenching experiences I have
    ever been through.

    I wanted to share this, so that for me, he will never be forgotten:

    He was only 8 and 1/2 months old,
    my little colt lost....

    His body was limp, a life that would never be,
    for unknown reasons he was taken from me.

    I will never know what he could be,
    and he will never know the love from me.

    All my hopes were crushed with one blow,
    I didn't know I could feel so low.

    I buried him where the sun always shines,
    I know in my heart he will always be mine.

    I tried my very best,
    now he is at rest,

    My little colt lost.........

    Thanks for listening,
    Tina

2028.2Time Heals ALL things...EDWIN::KRUPICKAMon Apr 22 1996 18:1312
    To say "I'm Sorry"...just can't even begin to express the sorrow I
    feel for you right now. I know how easy it is to love something
    long before you've even had the chance to hold and care for it.

    I also lost a colt during birth when I was a kid. I planted a
    Blue Spruce tree where I buried him. Twenty Five years later, I
    still visit the tree.

    My prayers are with you.

2028.3So sad....CHEFS::PHILLIPSKTue Apr 30 1996 15:1013
    Its so sad when something like that happends....

    My friend's horse Tapai had a little filly last week, all seemed to go
    well until about half an hour after the foal was born Tapai went down..
    she later died in the hospital leaving the little foal. Its so sad as
    my friend had bred Tapai and had watched her being born..

    The foal (Pebbles) has now gone through two foster mums and seems to be
    doing well. Its so sad when something like that happends as you think
    it can never happen. I bought my friend a rose bush to plant in memory
    of Tapai. She will be sadly missed.

2028.4blood test resultsMTCLAY::DOUGLASFri May 03 1996 11:2317

    Well, I got the blood test results back and they show no
    abnormalities. My mare's white blood cell count was not low
    and her Lymphocites (sp) were ok. So there were no viruses
    detected.

    I am still awaiting the uterine culture results. The waiting
    is making me crazy because I want to put some closure on this
    and get on with life!

    Tina

    PS: re.last, I am so sorry for your friend's loss of her mare.
    That must be even more heartbreaking. Hope the foal is doing ok now.
