1837.0. "schooling barns?" by NAC::A_OBRIEN () Thu Dec 16 1993 13:41

A friend of mine is looking for a schooling barn in the general
vicinity of Concord, Boxboro, Acton, Littleton area. She started
riding about a year ago and last summer went for a 10 day
riding vacation in the Canadian rockies. She does not have a horse
at this time but at some point may be intersted in leasing.
    Any recommendations?

    Thanks, Ania

There is a new barn on Route 2A in Littleton that just went up. I
believe they are teaching dressage and hunt seat there. I don't know
    wha the name is.

There is Weatherbee Farms in Boxboro also.

    How about Bolton?

There Century Mills Stables. They offer sales, lessons, training
in English, Hunt Seat, and Western. Call them and ask for JJ - she's
the owner. Opportunity for lease may also be available. If she's
still there, I highly recommend a great Appy Mare - Snowflake.

Centry Mills is nice, but they don't have an indoor riding ring.
In looking for a lesson farm, you need to have one w/ an indoor
    riding ring for Rain/Snow/Cold/etc.

I would reccomend the one on 2A (Lakspur). Weatherbee is very very
nice but it is very pricey to. There is also Pegasus Farm in
    Littleton.

I would have your friend, go and watch the lessons being given and
meet with the trainers and then form her opionion. Watch as meny
as it takes to find a place and trainer you'd be comfortable with.

A very nice place in Berlin, MA (maplewood) but that might be to
    far for your freind

You could possibly Try Red Acre Farms (Mitch and Kathy Steege).
They're currently in Stow, MA. They are moving to a place with an
indoor ring, but not sure where. You can find Mitch and Kathy in the
    phone book for Stow, MA.

Also, try Proctor Hill Farm in Littleton/Westford (right off of I-495).
They're at the Kimballs exit (31?). They have two indoor rings. YOu
can find them in the phone book as well.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!
