1545.0. "Tattoo question" by STUDIO::PELUSO (PAINTS; color your corral) Thu Oct 31 1991 10:47

My friend has an unregistered appendix QH....or so she was told. It
was her first horse. We noticed that the horse has a tattoo on his lip.

Does this mean the horse is all TB? Would they tattoo a QH? How can
    she trace this?

If the horse is a Quarter horse, he may have been used for quarter
horse racing. See if you can read the number on his lip and write
to the quarter horse registry, maybe they will have some information
    on him.

   Hi Michele,

We had our QH traced thru Premier Pedigrees. They are really
nice and very knowlegable about QH and TB lines. They moved to
another state last year (she got married) so I'll have to go
find her new address for you. They are not in Washington any more.

thanks for the info. I'll pass it on. And if you can find the address,
    I'd appreciate it.

Do you think they'd tattoo a part QH/ Part TB.

We think he might be all TB, as his conformation and disposition
    supports the TB generalizations.

Can an AQHA have TB blood in it (I know Paint can)? Maybe he was a
raced QH, and was sold w/out papers because he didn't cut it.

    Thanks-

The vet was out to check a recurring lameness, and he read the tattoo,
the horse is all TB. And he said from the looks of his legs, he's had
    a pretty tough life.

They had pin fired his legs?

Anyway, Kiirja, I got the poacket...thanks, she'll be sending it in
to see what his history was.

Arrrgghh!!!! Pin firing...... I *hate* seeing those
scars on a horse's legs. It is, (to me) such a useless,
    cruel thing to do....

1545.7Another place for PedigreesISVBOO::PAANANENMon Dec 02 1991 11:4720

FYI, there is now a local place that does TB pedigrees.

"Send the registered name of your horse and you will receive:
        - complete up to date computer pedigree
	- entire racing record
	- produce record
     All for $25.00
We are now able to track your horse's name and pedigree
     through his tatoo number."
