1001.0. "Sept. Trip to Ireland - What to Bring?" by PTEVAX::MARCHI () Fri Jul 14 1989 21:10

    Hi!

I'm going on a weeklong horseback riding tour in Ireland this Sept.
through FITS EQUETRIAN. Has anyone gone on one of these? Any advice
as to what to bring, what to expect, etc. We'll be covering 150
miles in 6 days (5-6 hrs. a day).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A riding raincoat - or plan to buy one while you get there! While the
weather in Ireland (and in the rest of the British Isles) can be
magnificent in September, it can also be cold and wet.

On one of my trips to Europe I bought an all enveloping plastic riding
raincoat that folded up into a 8 by 10 inch carrying bag. I bought it
in Germany but it was made in France by the same folk who make the
    rubber riding boots (Ecuyer/Aigle/Stylo).

    Have fun!

State line Has a yellow slicker which covers you and your tack
and has some extra snaps to wear it different ways (don't ask me,
I couldn't figure it out). It costs about $15.00. Worth the
investment (we go on some weekend trail rides in Vermont and the
    weather is always changing)

If you want the 800 number and ordering number I'll be happy to post it
    for you.
