371.0. "Clipper Repair/Blade Sharpening" by PARSEC::SCRAGGS () Tue Aug 18 1987 18:43

    Would anyone know where I could get my clippers fixed? I
    have large body clippers that have been broken for about two
    years now. Tack shop owners just told me to send them back
    to the manufacturer. I think at that point I should probably
    just buy new ones. If I could get someone local to look at
    them, it may be cheaper that way. Any help would be greatly
    appreciated.

371.1Try small appliance repair shopsPLANET::NICKERSONBob Nickerson DTN 282-1663 :^)Wed Aug 19 1987 16:259
    Marianne,

    You might try a small appliance repair shop if they still exist.
    We used to have some when I was growing up who would make an attempt
    to fix anything electical. All they can do is say no. Try the
    Yellow Pages for some numbers under Appliances - Repair.

371.6Clipper Blade SharpeningEQUINE::DANIMon Nov 02 1987 14:3020

    Those of us in the horse world know how expensive these equine
    luxuries are and attempt to make do with reusing and recycling items
    rather than replacing them.

    I have patched more blankets, restitched halters (by hand - ouch),
    and replaced nylon parts of lead lines than I care to admit. If
    I can make something easily and more cheaply than buying it I will.
    But what do I do about my clipper blades.

    I have no idea what to do with clipper blades. I live in the Nashua,
    New Hampshire area. Are there any noters out there who know where
    I can get clipper blades sharpened?

    I also need to have my field boots resoled. Any recommendations
    are welcomed!

    thanks!
    Dani

371.7I'd like to find a place, tooTOPDOC::NAJJARMon Nov 02 1987 15:508
    Hi Dani,

    I'm also looking for a place to get mine done. I think there
    is a place down in Lynn or Revere, MA that does them, but I'd
    like to find somewhere closer. I don't really want to have
    to buy new clippers just to get a sharp blade. There was a
    note earlier in the file about this - I don't remember the
    number off-hand (it listed the place in MA).

    IT'S SORT OF A LONG TRIP JUST TO GET YOUR BLADES SHARPENED, BUT
    IF YOUR IN THE DERRY N.H. AREA, THE VICTORY PASS TACK SHOP OWNED
    BY CHER THOMPSON DOES REPAIRS AND BLADE SHARPENING. SHE IS LOCATED
    RIGHT BY RT 93 EXIT 4 ON RT 102 (BY BEN FRANKLIN'S).
371.9Thank you!EQUINE::DANIMon Nov 02 1987 18:4814

    Thanks for the replys.

    The Victory Pass tack shop won't be too far. My horse is boarded
    in that general direction.

    Julie, if you want to plan a rendez-vous I could take your clippers
    over. First I'll call and see what they say.

    Thanks for the tip! I believe I have a total of 3 sets to be
    sharpened!

371.11Check with local groomers/vetsKNEE::MONTVILLESharon MontvilleMon Nov 02 1987 20:116
    I'm from Colorado Springs, so I can't recommend a place but I can
    suggest a tactic. You might want to look up grooming places (as
    in dog grooming) in the Yellow Pages, call them, and ask them where
    they get their blades done. Also, local veterinarians might be
    able to recommend a place. I used to work for a vet and took the
    blades in about once a month.
