2147.0. "dnaevld Problem" by PENUTS::COSTA () Mon Mar 17 1997 14:18
I am having a problem with event logging on a DEC 3000, running Digital
UNIX V3.2C (Rev. 148) and DECnet/OSI for Digital UNIX V3.2A-0 (Rev. 23.19).
Periodically, the event logger "locks up". That is, events are not being logged.
Additionally, I cannot get a response when I issue amy ncl commands to the
events dispatcher.
I am logging events from a number for sytems, approx 37 systems. I do have
many, many dnaevld processes. Eventually, all of these dnaevld processes (except
one) go into a <defunct> state. I'm not sure if the problem is with dnaevld or
if I have a system resource problem. Have anyone else benn able to resolve this
problem???
Thanks...Fran
PS - I did check the attached notes that refer to a patched version of dnaevld
that will correct the multiple process problem, but I cannot find a pointer
to it's location. Can anyone direct me to it's location??

| Hmmm. Still running DECnet 3.2A, huh?
There were a lot of changes in dnaevld from 3.2 to 4.0.
I've built the 4.0 version on 3.2B. It seems to work, and
I think it will work on 3.2A. If you're interested, you can
copy it from socket::dnaevld.32b.19mar97.Z and give it a try.
