Conference noted::coasters

For some time I had been hoping to find a book about the history of
Canobie Lake Park. Well there finally is one out but it sure would be easy
to miss, especially since it seems to only be offered at bookstores in
Salem NH and the surrounding towns.

It is part of the "Images of America" series - "Salem, NH Volume II,
Trolleys, Canobie Lake, and Rockingham Park". (Arcadia Publishing,
1 Washington Center, Dover, NH).

It includes 70 pages of old photographs and text showing the history of
the park - includes photos of various dark rides, wooden coasters, the
carousel, the ballroom, and even a 1910 map of the park.

	I went to Canobie for opening day yesterday.  It was a bit on
the brisk side.  Which probably explains why there was almost no one
there :^)
    	The highlight of the day was that my 6 year old daughter Emilie
is now tall enough to ride the Yankee Cannonball.  Our first ride was
in the front seat.  She LOVED it!  They were giving double rides for
most of the day, so our first ride turned into a double.  It took 8
rides before I could drag Emilie away.  Hmm, have I created a monster?
 	Emilie rode everything that was open with the exception of the
paratrooper ( I would not let her ride alone, and I won't ride it).

       	Now that she is tall enough, it's time to head to the Great
Escape and ride the Comet.

PS - Canobie was selling good any day admission worth $17 for $12,  they
were doing a brisk business
