there is a cycling club in Fitchburg, the owner of Gamache's Cyclery
belongs to it and can give you any info you want. I cant remember
the name of the club but if you stop in to the store, they've got
    info.

The Fitchburg Cycle Club (FCC) is one of the oldest bicycle clubs
in the USA. They are oriented to the experienced rider and racers.
They have held many overnight tours, 200 mile rides, races, etc.
Sadly, they are in decline right now for lack of ride leaders.
A more active local club serving the area is the Nashoba Valley
Pedalers, who will be starting their "Orientation" rides, ment to
introduce new riders to the club and to riding in a group. These
will be 10 to 12 mile, easy paced rides, usually on a Sunday morning.
Experienced riders are welcome to join us in our regular ride schedule
which is now underway. For info: contact NVP at P.O. Box 398, Acton,
MA 01720. Many of the noters in this file are members. - Chris
267.37 Hills Wheelmen in WorcesterCSMADM::SCHWABEWed Apr 15 1987 18:117
There is also a club in Worcester called the "Seven Hills Wheelmen".
The club is geared towards recreational touring with scheduled Sunday
    rides and occasional overniters.
On saturday, April 25, they are joining Nashoba Valley pedalars
in a 50 mile ride from Northfield Mtn, Mass through Southern New
Hampshire and Vermont. It should be a nice ride. If you want the
address of the club let me know as I don't have it handy right now.

Many thanks for the responses. I wrote off today to the Nashoba
Valley Pedalers for info on their tours. Those orientation rides
sound ideal to get the wife and I back into shape.

    Thanks,

I am posting this on behalf of someone who posted a question to a
    bicycling distribution list (MassBike):

Does anyone know the current status of bicycling clubs in the Fitchburg
area? Is the old Fitchburg cycling club still in existence? Is
Nashoba Valley Pedalers still in existence? If so, how does one get in
    touch with them?

The name of the person who requested the information is Tracy
Lavengood. Please send mail to her at:

although it might also be beneficial to post the information here as
    well.

    Thanks,

certain that they are still in existance. They can be reached at

The Fitchburg Cycling Club is still in existence (I ride for the
     RR Team).

Simply call Gamache's Cyclery at (508) 343-3140. You can join at the
store. It's $25.00 for the season - There is a family rate. It en-
titles you to a 10% discount on the stuff at Gamache's...
