2856.0. "The Scottish Git's Farewell Note" by KIRKTN::GGOODMAN (Loonatic) Tue Sep 20 1994 10:34

    This shouldn't really be a goodbye note. This is my last week working
    for Digital as a full time employee before disappearing off to
    university for 4 years of drinking, sorry studying... But, at this
    moment in time, it looks like I will be back at SQF working weekends
    for the near future anyway. So, I won't really be participating in the
    anti-Chip warfare after this week, but i will still be around to make
    sure that you're not talking about me after I've gone.

    But, before I depart, I would just like to say that Greg Lemond is a
    misunderstood cyclist. All the criticisms in the press questioning his
    attitude to the sport and his constant whining and greeting in front of
    the cameras that made those special 3 weeks in July all the more
    compelling are completely unfair.

    He's far worse than that... :-)

    Graham.

     Best wishes and good like in academia-land... Hey I just had a
     thought! You might learn something rubbing elbows with those
     learned, bookworms... :-)

     Don't worry about any withdrawl symptoms on my part. That rapier wit
     of your will continue to sting for a lifetime! :-) Besides, it's
     only 4 years.

     Seriously, thanks for sharing everything and participating. CYCLING
     will be at a loss for a while.

       of the sport... Please?
2856.8KIRKTN::GGOODMANLoonaticTue Sep 20 1994 16:006

    Hey, I know that much about the sport already that I'll be lecturing in
    my part time. You're more than welcome to attend, Chip. Might finally
    get you to realise why lemond is a pedalling joke... :-)

    Graham.

Good luck, Graham. Gonna miss your sparring with Chip.

The notesfile won't be as lively without you.

With Lemond on the verge of leaving the sport, Graham's got nothing
left to talk about. That's *really* why he's leaving.

    <- Ya, I'm sure he experiences a little anxiety and loss of sleep
       from time to time.

       However, he has taken a few jabs at Big Mig. Maybe Graham still
       has a future??? He's still young, right?

    While there why not drop in on this course and give some lectures:

    I think Graham has a future in cycling journalism (no joke 8-).
    He knows how to tweak people, and that's a big part of being an
    interesting writer.

    I'm going to miss the inspiration to do a little cycling journalism of
    my own on occasion.

    Graham, may you never go rabbit-hunting with a brother-in-law who
    shoots on sound, not sight ;-). I hate to see anyone have to pedal
    around with thirty lead pellots just outside the wall of their heart.

    Best of luck to you,
    Justin

    And back already. 20 minutes to go before the end of my last day, and
    "Can you work overtime tomorrow, Graham?"

    Well, I'm now a poor hard student, so....

    Graham.
2856.20Really farewell...MASALA::GGOODMANLoonaticSat Apr 01 1995 06:5312
Well, this is to be my last day as a part time worker at DEC. Even though I have
been quiet (well, can't take pot shots at Lemond any longer :-) I have still
been lurking in here.

If anyone ever needs to desperately get in touch to let me know how Greg's Hour
Record Attempt is coming along, then both Chip and Rod W both have my e-mail
adress. Just don't expect a quick reply while I sit out the rest of this month
long holiday.

Ain't life just too hard? :-)

Graham.
2856.21So who's gonna tell the stories now?ANGLIN::PEREZTrust, but ALWAYS verify!Tue Apr 04 1995 17:285
    This sucks! I'm going to mis Graham's notes about the miserable
    weather over there... Whenever I'd get to whining about riding here in
    Minnesota I could always look at his accounts of the 34 degree, sleet,
    gale-force winds, and mud roads where he was and realize things here
    were pretty good...
