2718.0. "Gone bye-bye" by ODIXIE::JPENN (I own a looong bike) Wed Jan 26 1994 11:37

Well, I'm gone. My "job code" was eliminated yesterday. I have always
enjoyed this notes file, mostly from a read only point but, it's been
fun none the less. I also have found employment in a bike shop. I have
to work weekends but, I loose the pager and standby. I can also commute
by bike. I won't make as much money, though I'm sure I'll be a hell of
a lot happier. If any of you make it to Atlanta (ALF) for training or a
meeting stop by Roswell Bicycles. It's close to the ALF facility.

Bye bye Joe ... from your friend in Rome.

At this point I think Joe it's not at DEC anymore !! but I read this
note only today because I was ill last week. Please if someone can give
me the pointer of Joe (home address), let me known so I can write him
    directly.

    Thank you

Rather than create another note, I'll add to this one.

I'm resigning today after 10 years at Digital. Since the will probably
walk me out the door, this will be my last note.
Of all the employee interest notesfiles at DEC, this was my favorite.
If I could tar (you know... that UNIX backup thing) it off and have
it stamped on a Compact Disc, I would.

As a final note, I would like to retract a really bonehead suggestion
I made WAAAAYYYYY back in another note. In that note, I suggested never
cleaning your chain. I have long since changed my mind on that. Now,
I (on an MTB) sprayoff/knock off the gunk, dry the chain and lube
immediately. You don't get tight links like when you remove and soak
it in a solvent, and you don't get rust if you hand dry and relube
    right away.

Anyway, may the wind be at your back, the sun always shine, the dirt
always dry, your forks never stick, the pavement smooth as a
baby's butt, the dogs be slow and sluggish, etc, etc, etc.

Well, I just re-read this note. And it's time to add mine. I'm not
off immediately, but I am currently working my notice, and I wanted to
have a chance to say goodbye to all my cycling friends. Goodbye and
    thanks for all the fun.

It's sad to note how many of the people I met here are ex-digits (John,
Ed, Graham toname just a few), to those of you that remain, keep the
rubber side down, keep on peddling and I hope to cross you on the road.
If ever you're out peddling and someone waves at you: wave back - it
    might be me !!

DEC was (and still is) a real fun place, and I surely had a buncha fun
    in this conference.

Sudden news to say the least. I would like to thank you for all of your
perspectives and contributions in the note. The content quality will
certainly not be the same without benefit of your experience as I'm
sure DIGITAL will certainly experience as well.

Good luck and best wishes Rod...

    Regards,
