I need to replace the ultra chain I presently use and I would like current recommendations on a chain to fit an ultra-six cluster. There are two chains advertised in the Nashbar catalog that sound promising. One is a Sedisport and the other is a Shimano Narrow Uniglide chain, both for ultra freewheels. Can anyone recommend one over the other, or something better? If it makes a difference, I am using a Suntour Winner Pro cluster. Thanks, Steve

Go with the Uniglide. I have never been able to get even acceptable shifts from a Sedis chain, and I've tried most of their line. The best chain I've ever used (as far as shifting went) was a Regina, but it wore my chainrings at an unbelievable rate. I've always had good luck with Uniglides, so I stick with them. --David

>>Go with the Uniglide. I had a Uniglide that got stiff links with only 800 miles on it. I replaced it with a sedis chain and have had great success. This was with a standard 6 speed cluster. If you get a Shimano chain get the 600 Ultegra. I heard it lasts longer than the standard Uniglide. There was a past note that went into chain problems. Do a DIR/TITLE=CHAINS and see what else you can dig up. Tom

I have a Suntour , ultra-6. I've used the Sedisport for many miles and never a problem. |
