1832.0. "Alloy Nipple failure" by TPWEST::SHROYER () Fri Jan 25 1991 19:00

A bunch of us were out doing a crit workout last weekend and during
one of the sprints I had an alloy nipple break. It was on a 32 spoke,
3x rear wheel. I just laced these wheels a few weeks ago, and have
less than 500 miles on them.

I'm curious about what the general experience has been with alloy
nipples.  Comments?

Did the nipple crack in half, or did it strip the threads?

    I've broken the steel ones, I don't think I'd bother with alloy ones.

That sounds more like a defective nipple.

	That comment hurts! Too many powerbars, maybe. Too much
sourdough, o.k. But too many doughnuts? Not me.

	John boy, just be at Mission for tomorrow's crit workout.
