3195.0. "Rhode Island Bike Trip" by SMURF::DIONNE () Mon Mar 31 1997 16:43
I'm planning a weekend trip in Southern Rhode Island for
the Granite State Wheelmen (GSW) for October 3 - 5th.
Not being familiar with Rhode Island I'm looking for some
recommendations on where to stay, bike and other fun
things a group of cyclists might enjoy during the weekend.
I would like to offer rides of various distances from
25 - 60 miles. The weekend will be advertised as a
casual/recreational type ride. The type of ride where
you can stop and smell the roses and/or visit special
attractions along the way. I hope to have the main
ride as a 40 miler at a moderate pace with a leader.
Then I would offer shorter and longer rides with cue
sheets that people could do on their own if they prefer.
By Southern Rhode Island, we mean Wakefield, South Kingston
Narrangaset etc.
Does anyone have any recommendations for the following:
1. Bed and Breakfast type places to stay that
would allow us to have the bikes in the room
or provide us with a storage area for bikes.
2. Suggestions for bike routes. Any bike routes
already mapped out would be greatly
appreciated.
3. Fun things to do other than biking. Or places
to visit while biking.
4. Places to eat.
5. Other suggestions/recommendations?
Thanks
Nancy
