3110.0. "1996 Tour De France" by FOUNDR::MCCARTHY () Wed Jun 26 1996 12:22

    I apologize for creating this note since I know it must
    be in here already. But a DIR/TITLE="TOUR DE FRANCE" didn't
    yield a 1996 entry so I thought it should have it's own
    entry - esp. since Big Miq will probably join a record
    5 wins, 5 straight wins - and the guy isn't even French
    How rude of him. Or am I mistaken, will it 6 if he wins?

    Anyway, is AlpDHuez on the route this year? IS the route
    a mountainous one? Any long time trials?

    And most importantly, is there any US TV coverage? ESPN?
    ABC?

    thanks

RE: <<< Note 3110.0 by FOUNDR::MCCARTHY >>>

How about we use note 811 in the MOVIES::CYCLE_RACING notes conference? Better
one than two.

He's won five in a row already. This would be his sixth (in a row and total).

There's a stage listing in the first reply to the above note. EPSN/EPSN2 should
have daily coverage (but I don't know the schedule).

Two real-time links available from http://asaab.zko.dec.com/~lucia/timhome.html

The TV schedule is on espn, at http://www.espnet.com/, other sports, other
sports...

Mig may in fact win 6 in a row, but I think it will be tougher for him this year
than any prior, if all the competition is in form.
