3056.0. "Recent award info needed" by CSSE::SLAVIN () Thu Mar 21 1996 10:46

    Does anyone know which hybrid bicycle(s) have gotten recent awards for
    best of the year from Bicycle magazine, Consumer Reports, etc?

    I have been looking at hybrids in the $300-500 range this week and my
    head is swimming! But I am so pumped for getting a new machine!

    Thanks!

    Lois

    I dunno who won what, but my girlfriend rides a Specialised Crossroads
    Cruz. I've ridden it a few times and it's pretty snappy (relative to
    my mountainbike anyway). She bought it for summer riding on bicycle
    paths and stuff, but I brought her mountainbiking on a friends bike
    and she now wants to buy a mountainbike. Everything is standard about
    it apart from the saddle which was upgraded to the Specialised Leather
    Saddle you see on the M2. Shes somewhere around 5.8 in height. It's
    red with yellow decals. She's looking for $200 or a close offer.

Check out Highroads in Stoneham. Tough to beat their selection on MTB. I've
been pretty happy with Belmont Wheel Works. Don't know about any places IN
Brookline.
