Innovation for this year, the Coppi has a little brother! I received Due
Ruote News the other week giving details of the 1995 torture trip over the
col d'Agnel, col de Vars and colle della Maddelena and discovered they had
put in a shorter loop for those who wanted the atmosphere of a Gran Fondo but
found the full shilling over the top.
Date: Sunday 9th July
Venue: Cuneo, Italy
Course 1:
240 km starting and finishing in the very impressive Piazza
Galimberti in Cuneo. The usual neutralised run of 50-odd km to Sampeyre
where the 55+ and women join in, then up over the Agnel (2741m), the Vars
(2111m), the Maddalena (1996m), followed by the exciting 70 km downhill to
the finish.
Course 2:
130 km starting and finishing in the same place. Takes the same
route as far as Sampeyre, then turns left over the colle di Sampeyre (2284m)
and has a roaring 60-odd km of generally downhill back to Cuneo.
Entries:
50,000 L before 27-Jun, 80,000 L after this date, includes ravito
plus a commemorative jersey to be worn during the event.
