I say some of these every year (and keep blowing the same commitments)
so, for the sake of continuity...

    1) Get into the 27:something's at the Rte 140 TT

    2) My 27:something is lower than Justin's 27:something :-)

    3) At least 1 century a month between May and September (5)

    4) No more back to back centuries thru Vt. (on a bike) :-)

    5) Do the:
               - Tour De Lowell (heck with the districts)
               - Marbelhead
               - Miles Standish
               - Hubbardston/Barre
               - District TT

    6) Work on my climbing (seriously work on my climbing)

    7) Break 1:20 at the Mt. Washington Hillclimb

    8) Break no bnes during the '95 season! :-)

       Good Luck Everyone!

2874.2I just want to ride againFXODEV::CRANEI'd rather be on my bicycle!Wed Nov 02 1994 12:3610
After taking a year off due to family and work commitments
I REALLY want to get back on the bike and race again.

Of cource I have to buy another bike since I sold mine.

I find it amazing just how much I miss all the people
I used to ride with. I also miss being 160 lbs. ;-)

2874.3PHINNEY'S GOALSTRACTR::PHINNEYWed Nov 02 1994 15:3820
I'm like Chip in that I have a continuation from year to year on my
goals - some years I make it (and so up the goal); some years I don't
(and so carry the goal into the next year).

My 94 season still isn't over so my 1st goal may be realized this year.

    1) break the 3000 mile (outdoors) mark
    2) don't wimp in the TDL this season just because it was raining at 5AM
    3) break 1:37 on Mt. Washington
    4) do a lot more rides (i.e., centuries) with the Granite State
    Wheelman up here in NH
    5) continue with the weight training to meet/better these goals
    6) plan another European bike trip (Ireland) or at very least, mid-west
    7) finish another back-to-back century for Multiple Sclerosis
    fundraising (6th year)
    8) continue to love this sport

There it is! Me and my big mouth!! As if I need more 'goals'!

for 1995 - if the weather holds out....

    1. survive - ive done good with this one so far.

    2. hit 1000 miles earlier in the season - i'm hoping for late july

    3. do at least 1 century - probably in late august/early september
metric and 1/2 centuries should start in late may

    4. hoping to end the year close to 2000 miles - 1800 is the goal
that's only 600 over what i've done this season.
i've moved and can bike to work in the non-rain/snow weather

    5. maybe try an overnight trip or two.

    6. try to get a small amount of biking done on the trip to switzerland
       in february

Any miles would be great, as I put almost nothing on the bike this year :-(.

2874.10FINALLY MADE MY MILEAGE GOAL!XCUSME::PHINNEYThu Dec 08 1994 15:456
Made my 3000 mile goal 2 weekends ago (that freezing weekend!)

So now, of course, I'll have to up it to at least 4000. Just will have
to get an earlier start next year - it can't come to soon!!

2874.111994 - a vintage yearJURA::MACFADYENsour timesMon Dec 12 1994 07:4835
Here's what I said I wanted for 94, and what actually happened:

    o 8000km (5000mi)
Yesterday I took my year-to-date to 9001km, so I've fairly smashed
    that target.

    o A 300km dayride
Never got within 100km of that; the prospect continues to psyche me
    out.

o Cycle some more famous cols
I certainly did, this year I collected, for example, the Cormet de
Roselend, Iseran, Izoard, Vars, Cayolle and Turini, all those on the
Thonon-Nice ride, and also the fantastically steep Mont du Chat near
    Chambery.

o Give Mig and Tony a tough target time for the Cluses-Avoriaz time-trial
OK, so I gave them a target time, but you couldn't say it was a tough
one... it was a total blast to ride the route, though.

    o Have a great time
This I absolutely did. In a variety of ways, because of people, places
and equipment, 1994 has been my best cycling year ever. I even managed
to sample the US cycling experience with my trip to the US which
    included the Mt Greylock TT.

As for 1995, all I'm going to say is that I hope it matches 1994 in at
least some respects, especially the having-fun one. My job situation
has become more uncertain and I may well be living in England again,
which I guess would mean no more cols and a return to time-trialling.

2874.12I had a GREAT year - 1994....TOPTEN::PLEVARON, Piscataway NJWed Dec 14 1994 02:2733
The only goal I had for the year was to compete in "Wilderness 101", a 100 mile
mountain bike race in central PA. and it was cancelled.

But I had a great year in training for that event. I am totaling 6155 miles to
date and will continue mountain biking through the winter. (Will probably reach
6500 by years end). Those miles were almost even between road and mtn biking.

My biggest/longest ride was a solo ride from the southern end of NJ to the most
northern end (Cape May to High Point) 217 miles in 14 hours flat.

I purchased a tandem this year and did 2 centuries with my wife (non-rider) and
a few club rides.

I competed in 8 mountain bike races this year with the following results:

RACE NAME LOC	CATEGORY	FINISH
War In the Woods	NJ	Beg Vet 2nd place
Kancamagus Classic NH	Beg Vet 2nd Place
Fat Tire Trilogy 1	NJ	Beg Vet 2nd place
Berry Bog NJ	Sport Vet	8th place
Search for Jersey Devil	NJ	Sport Vet	6th Place
Fat Tire Trilogy 2	NJ	Sport Vet	5th Place
Allaire Classic NJ	Sport Vet	7th place
Fat Tire Trilogy 3	NJ	Sport Vet	8th Place

My goals for 1995 are:

1) Ride the Assualt on Mt Mitchell
2) Compete in Wilderness 101 (if held this year).
3) Finish 1st place in a mtn bike race (I'll be competing in Masters class)
4) Ride 25 miles in 1 hour...
5) Get my USCF license and do some road racing.

    1992: 4780 miles

1995: 5000 miles would be nice... I need to lose a few pounds.

wish everyone all the best, but I'll take the opportunity now.

      JJJJJFFFFMMMMAAAAMMMMMJJJJJJJJJAAAASSSSOOOOONNNNDDDD

Well, I made the 10,000 target with a bit to spare, the last 2 weeks of
1994 were a bit of a let-down with week 51 as the only zero of the year.
As I have said before, my weeks end on a Sunday, so the true 1994 total
Jan 1 to Dec 31 is in fact 11169 km.

I see from my last years note, I wrote -
Aims for 1994:
        - Another Epervier, hoping for nearer 8 hours and to soar up Notre
Dames des Anges like one (Ange or Epervier!)
        - The Raid Leman-Med from Thonon to Nice
        - Some sportifs with the CCA, how about Marseille-Nice or Cannes-
          Imperia and back?
        - Still having a job

Actual achievements were a bit better, -
        - I got inside 8 hours in L'Epervier, but they changed the course
and I staggered up the col des Fourches like a slug instead.
        - Raid Leman-Med; a great 5 days with t'lads, arriving in Nice
some 105 hours after leaving Thonon.
        - Sportifs; Imperia and back, Nice to Fontan and back plus Mer et
          Monts and La Lazarides.
        - Still have a job (just about!).

Highs for 1994
        - Getting over the Galibier and the Iseran during the Raid.
        - Leading a screaming bunch back down the N202 after 200+ km in the
          Mer et Monts.
        - Sitting in the sunshine at Fontan, getting stirring speeches
from the mayor in the company of many other bikies.

Lows for 1994
        - Feeling like death on the Colombiere, the 1st big col of the Raid.
        - The continued uncertainty at Digital.
        - Not getting back to ride a "12" in the UK.
        - Having a medical in November and finding I was STILL 20% fat!

Aims for 1995
-------------
        - Be more positive about work.
        - Marseille - Nice.
        - Ride the Virenque sportif in the Verdon.
        - Try to complete 6 more sportifs for my Mega-Randonneur of the
          Alpes-Maritimes card.
        - Lose 5 kg.
