2866.0. "Hudson/Berlin Race on 10/9 ??" by PCBUOA::LPIERCE (Time to Ride) Mon Oct 10 1994 19:55

    Does anyone know about the M:bike race Sunday (10/9) in
    Hudson/Berlin, MA?

    I saw a sign that said "race" and I saw alot of M:bikes going into
    the Gates Pond resivor. I know the res' very well, and I don't see
    how a race could be held there - they race would be a very very
    short race.

    I ride the pond alot - I'm not a fast rider and it takes me only
    15min to get around the pond. I just don't see what thrill real
    good bikers would get from a 15min race ???????

The event could have done multiple laps.

In the newspaper I read it was a 2.5 mile run, 15 mile (I think) bike race,
and 2.5 mile run again. I may have a couple of the details wrong,
but this is what I recall at the moment.

    Re .2;

         Isn't the term Biathlon? Some good Criteriums can be run over a
    2.5 mile course and believe me, the racers would be excited and alert.

    The event was a FIRM duathlon.  R2.3 MtBike7.5 R2.3

    I think is was the last event on the FIRM calendar this year. This was
    the first time they had used this particular course.
