I was out mountain biking in the area off Rte. 110 (gates 32 & 35, et
al.) and I noticed that someone has painted route markers in this area.
Actually, I couldn't help but notice because the writing was about 1'
high day-glo orange and seemed to be on every other tree. I saw
markings for L, R, 32 & 35 (gate numbers), and TP (Tahanto Point).

I don't know who's responsible (snowmobilers, fishers, and hikers also
use the area), but I think that it looks terrible. I wouldn't mind if
it had been done subtlely, but that's not the case.

Has anyone else seen these or know who's responsible for them?

    They're doing some serious logging around the resevoir right now;
perhaps the markers are for that. kb

I notice you left off Mountain Bikers from the list of possible
    culprits ;^)

I think it has something to do with the logging operations that are
going on. Agree is looks bogus, but at least it's "constructive"
    grafitti...

Most of the trash I've notice there lately seems to be from
fisherpersons. There is a lot of old bait containers, beer bottles
and such along the shoreline. Hope this doesn't result in a closing
of the area. Nice place to bike, run, xc ski.

I figured mountain bikers were assumed in this conference. I think
    they're (we're?) the culprits.

I highly doubt it's loggers, none of them would need directions,
especially in an area as small as that. Plus, they'd have no reason to
go out to Tahanto Pt. or do loops.

Oh, I dunno, if it were my land, and it came to giving directions
to a contractor/crew on which trees to cut and how to get to them,
I don't think I'd spare much flourescent spray paint in making it
as idiot-proof as possible. They are cutting select areas all
    around the resevoir. kb
