2843.0. "Sayonara" by NOVA::FISHER (Tay-unned, rey-usted, rey-ady) Fri Sep 02 1994 09:18

Now that my days are officially numbered and while I still have access
to the ENET, I'd like to say bye folks, it's been a lot of fun. I'll
miss this notes file more than any other part of my Digital life.

    Keep the rubber side down...

May the wind be at your back and all that,

Will you be on the Internet? If so, perhaps you could post your
address so that the immense wisdom and experience that comes with old
age will not be lost to us....

    Ed,

We thank you for cleaning out your basement and selling that tandem
to us. So far, the arguments have been minimal :) It will most likely
    be turning blue this Winter...

Best of luck to ya... When is the deal complete?

    Melanie and John

2843.8NOVA::FISHERTay-unned, rey-usted, rey-adyTue Sep 06 1994 15:2810
The deal will be complete sometime in the next 30 to 90 days.
Somewhere in there the SEC will say "ok" and we'll change badges,
get cut off from the E-net [big :-( ] and probably a bit later
    move to our new site.

I'm really glad the tandem's been working out for you. Would you
believe Linda's looking into borrowing a 19x19 for her and another
woman to try? She just wants to drive. :-)

well, this seems to be the scoop...

We are being terminated today 30 Nov. Oracle will lease our
office space until we can move to a new location. Up to 10
months for that. Until then, I think, we have the status
of 'contractors' and may or may not be able to read "employee
    interest notes files."

Since I signed into this file in note 5.22 back in Mar. '86, a lot of
miles have come and gone. Let's see, the Canondale was stolen after
I lent it to my daughter. Centuries? I've done over 600 of them,
many were, day after day after ... There've been 60-70 doubles and
4 triples, the best in about 22 hours (part of a 332 mi 24 hr race).
I did 3 of those 604 mile races in the midwest, all in the 52-54 hr
range. Let me tell you, the second night is the pits! Then there
were the 3 Boston-Montreal-Boston all in the mid 80 hr range.

There were a few rides that didn't turn out so great too, but hey
this my bio, so we won't talk about them :-)

I haven't tinkered with lightness so much lately, reliability is
worth more to me. I haven't done a C yet this year, too many things
have gotten in the way. Heck, the bike I lent Robin was a Masi
Nuovo Strada with SP/SLX tubing -- you know the stuff pipes are made of
-- and the Shimano Dura-Ace stuff ain't light, the D/A aero seatpost
is the heaviest I could find. And we ain't even talking about the
Brooks Pro Saddle.

Sometime this weekend the long awaited severing of the Oracle
machines from the enet will occur and I won't be here to insert those
little irreverent jibes that Chip loves so much. :-)

Good luck to y'all and keep the rubber side down, unless you ride a
mountain bike then just keep it where it does the most good.

You should be able to reach me at efisher@us.oracle.com at some time
in the near future. THanks for a buncha good years, hope I never hurt
anyone's feelings. :-)

Good luck Ed! You're right. I'll miss the jabs. Gee, you should
contact Graham and take a fledgling under your wings as a re-
placement. We could call him/her "grasshopper"! :-)

$2900. LIST WAS $3000 and the dealer lopped off a C without being asked.

    	$2900!!

That's more than I paid for the stereo system in my Duster.

Not a heck of alot more, mind you, but more.

2843.25bye guys :-)NOVA::FISHERnow |a|n|a|l|o|g|Fri Jun 30 1995 22:5811
which is more than I've paid for all of the sound systems/things
I've ever owned put together, probably including tv's vcr's ...

On the other hand, in 14 years, I've probably spent 2900 on tires and
    tubes.

There's no explaining a hobby to someone on the outside. Like, my
opinion of golf is that if it were a real sport someone would be
closing in on shooting an 18 by now. :-)
