2834.0. "RFC: tire & rim combination" by ALFAM7::URBAN () Thu Aug 25 1994 12:53

    Hi folks,

    I just got a bunch of bike stuff I mailordered.
    I ordered 22mm Alesa rims, but got the 25.9mm.
    I meant to order the 700-37C Schwalbe Marathon tires, but ordered the
    700-32C. (i.e., 5 mm thinner).

    what do you netters think about the combination of 5mm too small tires
    with 5mm too wide rims? will they cancel each other out, or should I
    send the rims back? One plus with the 26mm rims is strength (I tend to
    mash rims...)

    thanks,

    -Rob Urban (about to build his 4th wheel)

    The bike is a Bianchi hybrid (21 speed). I do a lot of city riding and
    some touring (and occasionally ride through some mud :-)).

32mm tyres with 26mm rims sounds more sensible than 37mm tyres with 22m
rims, that's for sure.

For city riding, I reckon you should stay with what you've got.
