2773.0. "Avocet 40 w/ large flange hubs?" by CADSYS::GLYNN (John) Fri May 20 1994 20:40

	Hi,

	I recently bought a tandem with large flange hubs. I've got an
	AVOCET 40 that I'd like to mount on this bike. The magnetic
	sensor ring has clips that usually snap it onto the spokes, but
	since the ring is smaller in diameter than the flange, it won't
	reach the spokes.

	I've tried other bike 'puters and really prefer the AVOCET. I'd
	like to find a solution for this.

	Does anyone know if larger sensor rings are available? Any other
	suggestions?

        Thanks,
	/John

    The sensor ring has slots in it. Could you use tie wraps?

    (I don't know, I'm just guessing)

Well done, Graham, that is in fact Avocet's recommended solution for
large-flange hubs. It must be fiddly to do but I'm sure it'll be secure
when done.

2773.3Tie wraps & and maybe a spot of glueCADSYS::GLYNNJohnMon May 23 1994 14:389

    Thanks. I saw the slots and thought that I could cut off the tabs
    (that snap on to the spokes) and tie wrap the ring to the spokes.
    I'm not sure if that would hold the ring against the flange, but
    I guess that's not critical. I've also been given the suggestion
    that the ring could glued to the flange with a hot glue gun. If
    I opt for the glue, I'll still use tie wraps as a backup.

    You can just use the ties, in fact they should have come with your
    cyclo computer. I have an avocet 50 on our tandem and did this fine.

    Another vote for tie wrapping the magnet onto the wheel; it worked fine
    on both bikes.

2773.6Av40 calibration number for 700x25?PCBUOA::KRATZThu Mar 21 1996 15:447
    Need help on calibrating a friend's Avocet 40...
    Is it the same table as the Avocet 50? (i.e. 700x25 corresponds to
    a 82.13 inch tire circumpherence (in English mode)). The wheel is
    the same size whether it has a Av40 or Av50 hung off it; just want
    to make sure they used the same calibration number.
    Thanksalot,
