2576.0. "Sunday River Lift" by CSLALL::GKOPPS () Thu May 27 1993 19:42

    I did a dir/title= and only found an old reference to Sunday River
    mountain bike lift.

    Has anyone ever gone down the mountain?
    How technical is the ride?
    Is it open now? (planning a spur of the moment trip)
    Is it worth it?
    How are the black flies etc. these days?

    Moderator please move if it is in the wrong place.

    Thanks in advance

2576.1A must for downhill freaksNQOPS::CLELANDCenterline violation...Fri May 28 1993 21:1123
    	Topic #2380 started by Alan T. was dedicated to ski parks that
    	operate as MTB parks during the summer.

    	I rode Sunday River last summer, and it WAS worth it.
    	A very long drive from Boston, over 150 miles, but if you're into
    	downhill, you must go.

    	They have groomed trails winding between trees, and the trails are
    	covered with some sort of bark-mulch, to prevent erosion. You can
    	also ride down the "slopes" as well. Man was it hairy riding.

    	It was THE most incredible death-ride I went on last year.

    	I went with a friend who rides dirt bikes, but had heard about
    	Sunday River's Mt. bike park. He wore AXO Sport body armor, and wore
    	a full-face filtered helmet. We had to reverse the brake cables on
    	the bike he was riding, so he wouldn't flip it by grabbing the wrong
    	brake. Didn't help, he bent the fork on a fairly new GT All-Terra.
    	(On a dirt bike, the right lever operates the front brake)

    	I don't have the phone number, but simply call Sunday River in Maine.
    	I'm sure they'll be more than happy to get you all the information
    	you need. Hint: front-end suspension is a BIG plus for this place.
