2516.0. "Route from Maynard to York needed." by JUPITR::DECKER () Mon Mar 29 1993 22:24

Moderator: Please move to the "route" note if one happens to exist. Thanks.

I'm looking for a route from the Maynard area to York, Maine. Does
anybody have any suggestions ?? Looking at a map, it appears that taking
Rt. 4 in Chelmsford to Rt. 3A, and working north eventually to Rt. 111 east
in New Hampshire is the best bet. The other alternative is Rt. 62 to Rt. 1/1A
in Danvers (sounds like a nightmare).

I have some day trip books, but nothing to piece together the
    whole puzzle. Thanks in advance..........Jim....

The following are two pieces of cue sheets that I just happen to have
hanging around. If you can make it to 3A in Hudson, NH, you see that it's
barely another 80 miles to York. The ellipses indicate where these were
cut from other routes. I left in some of the verbiage. The latter part
makes two scenic side trips that you may wish to skip, then again you
may not.

		Ride Designator "D"

100.4 mile ride from Hampton Beach, south to Newburyport, Mass.,
returning to Hampton and proceeding up the coast to Ogunquit, Maine,
and back. Passes by several state beaches, former fortifications
and Odiorne Point, site of the first NH settlement in 1623.

The route also passes through Wentworth by the Sea, and Strawbery Banke.

Wentworth by the Sea was formerly one of the better resorts in the
area. Legend has it that German U-boats used this building for
sightings during WW-II.

Park in one of the Municipal lots at the junction of Rte 1A (Ocean Boulevard)
and 101C, opposite Bill Bailey's Beach Resort. There is a lot across the
street toward the ocean and another lot across the street south of Bill Bailey's.

The ride is denoted by the letter D through its entire length.
