2366.0. "Cannondale bike bags" by RANGER::SCHLENER () Wed Jul 29 1992 16:54

    I had a bad scare yesterday with my Cannondale Trestle (front) bike
    bag. It attaches to the bike with a quick release mount made out of
    plastic.

    I didn't think anything of it. I have a hybrid bike and couldn't use my
    front bag that's on my racing bike. So I bought the Cannondale bag 3
    weeks ago (to go with the new Cannondale hybrid bike that I bought at
    the same time).

    I do alot of riding in Harvard Ma. since the facility that I work in
    (LJ0) is close by.

    We were riding down Old Littleton Rd down a moderate hill hitting
    speeds of 30+ mph. Towards the end of the hill, the hill dips down and
    evidently there's a nice bump right after the dip. I went over that
    bump and the Cannondale bag came off the quick release mount and
    proceeded down the hill right in my path. I was lucky that I didn't hit
    the bag.

    My question - has anyone had problems with Cannondale's quick release
    mount for (I believe) the mountain bike handlebars? I know that the bag
    was secure in the mount since I hadn't taken it off my bike for the
    past couple of rides. I haven't had problems with it before.

    Cannondale is going to refund my money, but I still would like to find
    out if they're having problems with their quick release bags.

    By the way, I called up Cannondale and explained what happened. They
    were very nice and will be refunding me the cost of the bag.
    Unfortunately, all their ATB bags use the same mounting device.

2366.2 I've seen the same problem...CGVAX2::JASINSKIFri Jul 31 1992 17:009
    I have witnessed the same type of accident that you described, however
    the rider assumed that his Cannondale bag wasn't properly secured.

    Unfortunately, for anyone who doesn't have a straight handlebar, there
    are very few, if any, other handlebar bags that will fit.

2366.3No problem with mine.SPEZKO::SMITHRecreational pCYCLEpath...Fri Aug 14 1992 02:474
    I ridden over 3000 miles with mine without a problem. It's on my
    road bike and is the smaller Cannondale quick release bag.
