My girlfriend (Marthe Hess) is now producing custom bicycle clothing. She is currently making shorts, jerseys, tights, windbreakers, jackets and various other pieces of athletic clothing. Marino wool is her favorite but she also uses Coolmax, Lycra, Ultramax, Polarfleece, Polartec, etc. If interested she will send you a price list as well as information on how to measure yourself for the custom clothing. Call Marthe MON.-FRI. at 413/268-7882 or I can field questions. Norm

> favorite but she also uses Coolmax, Lycra, Ultramax, Polarfleece, > Polartec, etc. In case anyone else is interested in making their own stuff from Polarfleece, Polartec, Polarlight, or other fleece (this is a soft, warm, fuzzy fabric, used in Patgonia or LL Bean pullovers for example), it's available locally in MA. The fabric is produced by Malden Mills in Lawrence. They have an outlet store at their factory (a real factory outlet!) on Rt. 28 in Lawrence, near the Lawrence/Methuen line. The outlet sells the raw fabric much cheaper than you could find it elsewhere. There's also a New Balance (real!) factory outlet a few blocks away, but when I talked to them last year they didn't know if they were going to be carrying N.B. bicycling shoes. ---Phil |
