1906.0. "Poor Factory Paint " by AIMHI::LARSON () Tue Apr 16 1991 21:06

    I have a '91 Diamond Back Axis Team. I have been riding it for 1 month
    and haven't dumped yet (although I came close on a few occasions). My
    question is about the quality of the paint process. I had a
    Specialized that I beat on for a year and dumped it several times. The
    paint received minor scratchs that didn't even reach the primer.

    My Diamond Back has yet to be dumped and yet it has several (3) places
    on the frame where the paint has "chipped" right down to the primer.
    I ride in areas that have loose rocks that can be put into flight by
    the Panaracer Smokes but I don't think that these should chip paint.
    The exposed hole looks like the candy coating on a M&M. Are Diamond Backs
    (and certain others) known to have poor finish work? I have no other
    complaints about the bike other than my headset came loose twice.

    Thanx,
    Mike Larson

    P.S.
    Did anyone else do the mud ride in Plymouth April 7th?
