1715.0. "another Bike Stolen" by MEMORY::GOODWIN (I've got a knee mouse) Mon Aug 27 1990 14:43

Comming back from the NEBS in maine on Sunday a Kestral was stolen
off the roof of our car in Hampton Beach, NH. We were at a resturant
on the conner of rts 1 and 27 called Lamies. We had just finished
lunch when one of the guys took some water out to his dog and all
the bieks were there. Ten minutes later when we left the kestral
was gone. we were albe to follow the thiefs trail North on rt 1.
for about 4 miles but never found them.

It was a white Kestral 4000 w/ a Campy Disk wheel. The disk had
"SPOKE N' WHEEL" in big block letters on it. If anyone saw this
bike on Rt 1 near the Hampton Mall or if any you see or hear of this
bike please call the Hampton Beach police or Frank's Spoke N' Wheel
	at (508) 872-8590.

1715.2You won't get any sympathy from your ins. co.GSFSWS::JSMITHChromed CannondaleMon Aug 27 1990 16:2212
That's a real bad area to leave anything unattended
or unlocked. Two years ago we lost our wallets and
my wifes rings that were hidden under the seat in a locked
car. The car didn't even appear to have been broken into...
they even relocked the door and put the bags back under the
seat before they fled with our stuff. We were told by the local
police that professionals work the beach all summer long.
Hope your auto insurance will pay for it, but if you put a claim
in on your home owners policy be prepared to be dropped next
year when you go to renew. That's what MET PAY did to us....
    live and learn....:(

	RE: .1

A "knee mouse" is a small pice of bone that resides in or around
the knee joint. Symptoms include: Squeeking knees, cravings for
cheese, hatred towards cats , and incredible pain after running.
The exact cause of the infestation is not known but is suspected
to be caused by the USCF to turn Triathletes into cyclists.

	RE: .2

I don't know if the guy who owned the bike was covered or not.
He said that he tried to insure it and the ins co. wanted over
	$800 a year.

The owner of the Inn said he thought his policy would cover it.

    UPDATE:

The owner of the Bike that was stolen got a call from the detective
handling the case. It appears the there is a ring of thevies that
follows racers from events and then take the bikes when people stop
    	to eat afterwards.

Make sure you secure your bike whenever you stop after a race. I
always lock mine. Even when I have it in the car I have a cable
that I lock around the seat bracket.
