1670.0. "AVIA MTB cleated shoes?" by CXCAD::EDMONDS () Fri Jul 27 1990 14:05

     Can anyone tell me where you can get AVIA mountain bike shoes? We
     rode with someone this week who had a pair, and they have recessed
     steel cleats. Unfortunately we didn't ask where he got them, and
     he was from out of town.

     We live in Colorado, so I'd prefer to know about mail-order places
     that stock them, or shops in Colorado.

     I already checked Nashbar and Performance catalogs.

     Thanks.

1670.1I can give you some local shops to callGSFSWS::JSMITHChromed CannondaleFri Aug 10 1990 16:567
    	Gee,
    		To bad your in Colorado. It seems that
    almost every bike shop in New England has these shoes
    at reduced prices. If you know of someone traveling
    back this way (Mass./So. N.H.) have them check a pair
    out for you.

1670.2how about Minnesota?CXCAD::EDMONDSFri Aug 10 1990 21:1310
     Hmm, don't have any trips planned to Mass. area soon.

     How about Minnesota - anyone seen them there? My husband will be
     in Minneapolis soon.

     By the way, I guess they're not really MTB shoes. They're just
     cleated bike shoes, LOOK-compatible.

    Well, I'm in Minnesota, and I bought shoes in the last 6 weeks, but I
    don't remember seeing any Avia cleated shoes at all... however, there
    are a COUPLE decent bike shops around. If he will be checking places
    in Minneapolis I recommend Penn Cycle, Cycle Goods, and Freewheel.
    There is also a place called Cedar Cycles that I believe specializes in
    mountain bikes. Most of the other places are pretty limited.
