| $20 ! Just to ride a century? No party afterward or other special

You can do a century free with GSW most any weekend, can't they Ed?

Does anyone know much about this century? I'm riding it this coming
weekend, and have never done a century before. I've got a couple of
questions, if you can help.
- Are water stops often enough that 1 large (28 oz) water bottle
will do, or do I need a second?
- Do they have bananas and other eats available at rest stops, or do
I have to provide them?
- Do I need to carry everything I'll need for the day, or can I get
stuff to the rest areas ahead of time? Do we (by chance)
circle back through Tiverton a couple of times?
Like I said, I'm a complete novice when it comes to centuries.

| Water stops are every 25 miles, if it really hot or if you drink a lot
you'll need 2 bottles. You should have 2 anyway.
They do have bananas and other eats at the rest stops. They have been
known to say "One banana per rider please."
You don't want to get stuff to the rest areas ahead of time, noone will
secure it for you. You won't get back to Tiverton till the end.

My experience with other C's is that by the time I got to the rest areas
the faster riders had eaten all the RIPE bananas. If you don't mind
green ones, that's OK. In general, it may be good to provide at least a
little bit on your one to carry you in case a rest stop runs out (it's
happened) or the bananas are so green you think they're handing out
cucumbers. If you don't like bananas,.... oh, nevermind, **ALL** bike
riders like bananas... :-)

| I would certainly carry two water bottles, just as a precaution. I
would also carry enough food for lunch (or if you're sure there
are stores on the route, enough money), as you may want to eat
more or different food than is available.
Also carry a windbreaker in case it gets cooler, and I always
carry a tool kit.

I rode that century last year. Overall, it's a nice ride - well
organized. I agree that $20.00 dollars is a little steep, but the
T-shirt is awesome! :-)
Some points that are worth noting:
* The century is not really any flatter then any other century in New
England. I went there thinking it would be a breeze, but it wasn't.
(It was my first century)
* I found two large water bottles to be a must. The temperature that
day peaked at 92 degrees, so water intake was quite high.
* Lots of friendly people there. Also, the ride is well policed and
there are plenty of sag wagons.
