1466.0. "eyelets" by ORCHRD::GARABEDIAN () Thu Mar 29 1990 18:45

    I am looking at a bicycle that I would like to use as a sport/touring
    bike, but it has no eyelets. This is a nice bike.

    I was wondering about the feasibility of having eyelets put (brazed?)
    on after I purchased it. I was also wondering about the cost of
    such a modification.

    Any advice?

    Just a guess but, if it has no eyelets it's either old or really a
    racing bike. If it's really a racing bike it won't feel right with
    packs on it and being used as a touring bike. If it's old, there
    are ways to attach panniers and racks that without eyelets if your
    really want to. Brazing eyelets would mean a new paintjob if you care
    about appearances, if not you can paint it your self.

Your best bet is getting a set of seatstay clamps for $1.75 a pair *. They are
vinyl-coated clamps for using seatstay racks on frames without braze-ons.
