| I rode this event last year and it was well orgainzed and the course
was very scenic. Last year it was in the 90's and humid both days,
so my advice would be to eat and drink a lot. Oh yes, if your thinking
of riding at a reasonably fast pace don't be in too much of a hurry
because we did this, only to find out that the last two check points
hadn't been set up yet. This resulted in going without water the
last 20 miles. When I started feeling chills on a 90+ degree day
I knew something was wrong.
Have fun and congratulations on raising the money for a good cause.

| I rode this last and will again this year. I recomend you get a decent
sized bag for your bike. I have one for the handle bars and another
under my seat. The one under the seat holds my spare tubes as well as
a spare fold up tire (we waited 1 3/4 hours for the repair van to
buy a new tire after a severe slice) also some tools to change the tire.
Have two water bottles and drink plenty!! I also had another water bottle
filled with Gatoraide and feel it helped tremendously. In the front bag
I brought along some trail mix in little bags, a face clothe to keep
my glasses clean and wipe off the sweat from my face. If you also are
sensitive to the sun bring along some sun shade for the 5-8 hours you'll
be out there. Also last year, they didn't have any bannanas until about
60 miles out. I was in real need of some potassium (sp?) before that. I
think this year I'll bring a bannana and some other fruit along. The
rest areas will have cold water and some orange slices. I tend to need
more than that so I'll think of some other food to bring. There is
lunch about half way there (only on the first day!) Also DON'T ride
your bike over the metal bridges!!! I must have talked to at least a
dozen people who got flats from riding over them. I beleive there are two
of them.
I'm sure theres more but I have to go. Look for me on a blue and yellow
Team Fuji and blue Bell Spectrum helmet. I wouldn't be doing this event
this year if I didn't have fun last year. Its a great event for a great
cause. See you out there and good luck!!
