    I've gone through the listing and can't find what I'm looking
    for (I have read Note 1044).
    
    I'm looking for inputs from anyone who has used the REGINA
    SUPERLEGGERA. I'm seriously, very seriously thinking about
    getting a straight-block or maybe a 12x19 at the most.
    
    I'm running a REGINA now and am very happy with it (13x23).
    
    I know they're alot of money but what the heck. How's the wear?
    Does the alloy composition vs. steel accelerate the wear radically?
    
    Any inputs will be appreciated.

       Yes,
    
        Alloy Freewheel cogs wear out at an accelerated rate. They are
    only worth the money if you are a light weight fanatic or if you
    have real good sponsorship.

I agree with John,  what do you think saving  a few grams is going to get you.
Are you planning on entering the Tour de France? (I didn't think so).  I would
hope that you know that most pro's use equipment that's heavier than most of us
use.  The only advantage I could see to getting an alloy freewheel is to show
people how much you can waste your money

    Thanks for the inputs and geez, I'm apologize for insulting anyone
    out there (.2).
    
    Couple of things; I just missed qualifying for the TdF. How insightful
                      of you to reason that out.
    
     The reason I asked (for help) was that I had some other things
    going like rims, spokes, tires, tubes, hubset upgrades that were
    translating into weight reduction. The alloy freewheel (is said)
    to represent a 100g. savings (not a few).
    
     I know I said "a couple of things", I would hope that you know
    that, as a general statement, pros using heavier equipment just
    doesn't hold 90 weight motor oil.
    
     While I'll agree that guys like me will reach a point that "shaving"
    is useless, a pound(+) can make an unbelievable difference in a
    12 mile TT. N'est pas?

For most of us, its probably a lot easier, and infinitely cheaper, to lose a 
pound off the human frame than it is to lose it off the bike. :^)
(assuming of course, you've already got a light bike, and a C'dale is pretty 
light)

I agree, then the money you save not eating and on ice cream, you could go out 
and get an alloy freewheel ;-)

But for me I can't afford an alloy freewheel, because I LOVE ICE CREAM 8-)

    You guys are right, the "cellular baggage" is the easiest route
    and by no means do I want to leave you with the impression that
    I'm at 1% body fat. I am running 10lbs lighter this year only
    because I got serious about cycling and trained like an idiot in
    the cellar this winter. I guess I'm just all pumped about the summer
    season coming and watching my times improve - definitely developed
    a cycling dependency (rather give up breathing than my bike).
    
    I feel good right now, don't really want to lose any more weight
    (rather spend the money on my "ride" than new clothes). 
    
    Okay, okay. I do get carried away (most of the time) so humor me.

    Hi there!! I too failed to qualify for the Tour this year, but 
    there is always next year. My brother and I have always been fanatics
    when it came to light weight bikes. I have huge legs and I am generally
    hard on equipment. I have used my regina for 1 year with out any
    signs of wear. The trick is regular cleaning of your chain, freewheel,
    chainrings, and derailler cogs..
     If you want to buy light weight equipment then do it..You can also
    save weight buy note using LOOK type pedals.. They are simply too
    heavy.. Look for Campy Super-Record pedals with the titanium axles.
    They are feather light..Oh, by the way.. My brother is into his
    5th season on a Campy freewheel.. REMEMBER.. KEEP IT CLEAN...

Losing 10 lb of the body is just about as good as losing it off the bike 
(excepting for rotating weight- which a freewheel is, to some extent).
BUT, losing 10 off the bod AND losing 1 or 2 off the bike is better yet!
Go for whatever light gear you want up to the threshold of an 
appointment with bankruptcy or divorce court :-).

Myself, I'm carrying about an extra whole bike w/panniers around. Gonna 
work on that before buying anything more for the bike!

    While you're at it drilling some holes will save some weight, everybody
    tried that a while ago.  Frame, spokes, chain, tires, tubes, water

Right, this became known as the "drilled water bottle" theory.  I though it had
pretty much gone out of style.  Which is why I was surprized to hear of 200
pounders riding on 700x19 clincher, but that's another note.

    I'll try some those things. One thing's for sure, I'm gonna stop
    drinking heavy water. The stuff is great for night riding (when
    you're glowing in the dark), but your right, it probably isn't 
    worth the added wait. 
    
    When I drill my tires what's gonna keep the oatmeal in them?
