I live in Nashua and work in LJ02. The problem is,
though, that I would only be able to stay with you
for the first 100 feet. After that, we'd both be
    	riding alone.

I am in St. Louis and there are many bikers (whole and part-time) among
us! Is there some way you could (a1?) inform the general DEC public
about Bike-To-Work Day? It would be easy to get some mass
participation if everyone felt the general "Dec" influence here!

    Thanks for the tip!

Well, if the weather is nice (insert other wimpy qualifiers
here), I'll do Harvard to the Mill, passing the BXx sites on the
way in (about 13 miles). This involves going over Pinnical Road,
quite a climb for a recumbent. Going home, I take the flat route
passing the LTN and LJO and Taylor St (what do they call that?)
sites (about 16 miles). Since I'm part time, these will occur
during the mid-morning and mid-afternoon, low traffic periods.

LKG has bike racks on the front 'patio' in clear view of the main security
desk. I've left one of my bikes there once this year, with no problems.

I work at NKS in Marlboro and live in Franklin. I haven't "found" a

route, that is longer and flatter.

The weatherman decided to give us a break...as a matter of fact I was almost
overdressed and had to shed a layer about half way along.

The route was a little trafficy (morning commuters, some road construction, a
few school busses):

Mass Ave. (from Porter Square) up through Arlington, Lexington to Rte.
4/225, across 128 into Bedford, Carlisle (sp) to 110 and into LKG.

Avocet data: 23.4 miles, 1hr. and 35 minutes (my first long ride of the season)
some amazing hills at miles 16,17 and 17.6. Great ride!!!

I wanted to ride in so bad. But, I listened to the weatherman,
and my youngest daughter does not like to be home in the
morning before school starts. Wife leaves at 6:30 AM, oldest
daughter leaves at 6:40 AM, youngest daughter doesn't leave
until 7:35 AM. Any, wouldn't you know, she missed the bus
today. So in 3 days, both daughters have missed the bus once.

My route in was North on Lake Ave in Worcester (alongside Lake Quinsigamond),
East on West Main Street to Shrewsbury center, South on South Street to SHR.
Only one bad hill shortly before Shrewsbury center. I seemed to have a bit
of a headwind too. I know that there will be a headwind on the way home.

Southboro, Northboro, Westboro, etc. starting from 500 Nickerson
Road in Marlboro. Actually, I plan to do this on a more or less
regular basis. I pulled this one off in 1 hour and 15 minutes for

less than an hour. If anyone would like to join me, send me mail.

I didn't ride in yesterday either, BUT I have been commuting in off and on
for the last three years. This year I was even riding in in the winter. No
snow, No problem! I try to ride in three times a week, but weather doesn't
always cooperate I have a two door storage cabinet in my office that I removed
all the shelves out of and made it into a closet. I bring my about three
changes of clothes in when I take my car, along with clean towels and take the
dirty stuff home that day. I hate to carry stuff on my bike. I also bring my
bike into my cube.

I did ride in today, 13.8 miles @ 39.35, 19.8 adv.spd. Worcester-MRO2, OVER
Shrewsbury Ctr. Fastest time was 38.55, 20.5. Thats with stopping for lights
and traffic.

For those that yesterday was the first time, keep it up. It makes going to work
alot more fun.

Though the front door... Just tell them its your wheelchair ;-)

Actually, the receptionist in MRO2 is not as strick as others. Plus I
didn't ask anyone, I just went and did it. When I get confronted, I usually
ignore them or ask to see it in writing, all the while I keep walking hoping to
get out of range. Unless they want to make an issue out of it they usually drop
it and never bother me again. Don't argue, don't try to prove your point, a
quick sharp WHO SAYS or SHOW ME THE POLICY and keep walking.

Today's Worcester Sunday Telegram has a 1/4 page article on page F10 on
bike commuting to work. (1/2 of the article is a picture.) It says
that May 15th is National Bike-to-Work Day. The first article states
that it may be faster for short distances (< 6 miles); The rest of the
paragraphs explore why most American's don't commute by bike, even
though they live close enough to do so, and methods of making it more
    practical.
