Last September I spent a fortnight in Turin ... except on the weekends, which were devoted to the Alps. Then November and December were based in Valbonne and Antibes. More Alps. Different pastry. The bike and I had a great time... but then who wouldn't? So this note will describe some of the routes (partially at the request of a Torinese of the racing persuasion :-) ). Questions/comments/comparison welcome! -john

That's some tour... thanks for the note. I know what you mean about the attraction of the Alps, it's a very intense experience climbing those high passes. I think the altitude drives you slightly nuts when it's combined with extreme physical exertion. I've only done it once, a shambolic affair described in note 484, but I have a firm intention to tackle some of those big climbs another day when I'm a bit fitter and a bit better prepared.
