485.0. "Opinions on Maruishi ALU TECH?" by USHS01::MCALLISTER (It's okay to say the U___ word!) Wed Oct 21 1987 17:14

I'm considering purchasing a Maruishi Alu-tech (on sale, naturally)
and am wondering if anyone has any pro or con knowledge on the bike.
I'm working with a reputable dealer in Houston, have ridden the
bike, and have some small (very small) concerns with the state of
    aluminum technology in bikes.

    The bike :
Maruishi Alu tech, T-7000 aluminum, Shimano SIS 105, Biopace 42/52,
Araya SS-40 rims, Cro-mo fork, UNICROWN fork crown.

Comments? Price is $550, list is $850

Other alternatives so far are Peugeot Galaxie or Triathlon, Bianchi
    Limited.

Hi so far this year I put almost 5000 miles on a Peugeot Trianthlon.
3425 miles were put on going between Seattle, Wa and Atlantic City,
NJ. As far as I'm concerned the bike is great, I've taken it through
heavy rain, over dirt roads, bumps that almost threw me off. It
is still going strong..By the way I'm no lite weight 186..I also
found out after my wife purchased it, that it is one of the few models
that Peugeot hand makes...ps it also cost $700 including sales tax...
I haven't heard of the make your talking about, but as you can see
I love my Trianthlon. Good luck in your decison and riding!!!

    	regards

is T-7000 the welded or bonded aluminum?

It's a welded frame, with the welds not polished. Looks surprisingly
good and the added materials are supposed to make the weld stronger.
